Job Description
As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality technical documentation that enhances user understanding of complex software products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, product managers, and UX designers, to create clear, concise, and well-structured documentation for diverse audiences. Your expertise in technical writing, information architecture, and documentation strategy will play a key role in improving the usability of our products.In this role, you will lead documentation planning, mentor junior writers, and establish best practices for technical communication. You will also be responsible for managing documentation lifecycles, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including FRS/CRS, SRS, SDD, user manuals, API documentation, release notes, training guides, FAQs, and whitepapers.Collaborate with product teams to understand software functionalities, workflows, and system architecture to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.Define and implement documentation standards, templates, and style guides to ensure consistency across all materials.Plan and execute content strategy to enhance knowledge-sharing across internal teams and end-users.Work closely with developers, UX designers, and testers to document new features, update existing documentation, and validate technical accuracy.Conduct peer reviews and editing sessions to maintain high documentation quality and compliance with best practices.Lead initiatives to improve documentation processes by adopting new tools, methodologies, and automation techniques.Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining high standards.Train and mentor junior technical writers, providing guidance on writing techniques, documentation tools, and industry best practices.Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in technical writing, content management, and information design.
Required Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.5 to 10 years of experience in technical writing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in software documentation.Excellent command of the English language, with exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Strong understanding of software development processes, Agile methodologies, and API documentation.Expertise in documentation tools such as MS Word, Confluence, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Oxygen XML Editor, and Markdown.Experience with version control systems (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket) and documentation workflows.Proficiency in structured authoring, content management systems (CMS), and single-sourcing techniques.Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, API documentation (Swagger, Postman), and scripting languages (Python, Bash) is a plus.
