Job Summary
As an Engineering Manager working on the Delivery Engineering part of the DevX (Developer Experience) organization, you will be enabling Comcast developers in faster delivery of reliable, performant, and scalable software products. You will specialize in managing a team of highly capable software engineers. This is a hands-on role with deep involvement in architecture, design, plus some coding and testing of the product. You will be joining Delivery Engineering teams that build and operate highly scalable delivery platforms to help 1000+ development teams deliver their software better, cheaper and faster.
We are forward-thinking DevOps teams that value minimalist processes and full end-to-end ownership of our platforms and tools from design, development, testing, deployment, support, monitoring and maintenance.
As a manager, you will support the team in developing, testing, deploying and operating these tools at scale. You will also oversee client engagement and customer support.
What you’ll do
We are looking for a leader to manage the work of CI/CD Experience team, focused on creating enabling CI/CD capabilities. This team partners with our platform teams to build tools that developers need to ship their software better, cheaper, faster and, as a result, become happier engineers.
In addition to the project specific responsibilities, other general responsibilities include:
Providing leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career developmentCommunicating a clear vision and purpose for the products we deliverWorking with business stakeholders to understand their roadmaps and identify critical technical capabilities that need developmentPartner with other internal Comcast partners in supporting the broad adoption of the product by creating a communications and internal marketing strategyResisting the accrual of âœtechnical debtâ in our systemsSupporting proof-of-concept systems or conducting exploratory experiments with new technologyDevelop and maintain a software development plan that meets the business needs and build a continuous delivery pipeline of high-quality releasesCoordinate release and sprint planning and conduct scrum meetingsRepresent the needs of our org’s engineering employees located in IndiaBuild and uphold culture that represents our values
What you’ll bring
5+ years’ work experience programming in compiled and scripted languages1+ years of technical management experience, preferably overseeing a software development team2+ years working in a team that follows DevOps practicesExperience with automated testing and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practicesWorking knowledge of cloud native application development, testing, deployment and operationsExperience with high-scale, high performance and high availability server-side developmentExperience working with Agile/Scrum methodologiesTrack record of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader and/or development managerExperience with Concourse, Go, Ansible, Terraform, AWS and Kubernetes a plusPrior contributions to Open Source are a plus
